Karen Milliner, Psy.D.

Dr. Karen Milliner received her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1998, where she was trained in comprehensive psychological assessment and treatment, with a special focus on psychotherapeutic intervention with severely mentally ill adults.  She received extensive supervised clinical experience with adults in inpatient and outpatient community mental health settings.  She completed a pre-doctoral psychology internship at Chicago Read Mental Health Center, centered around long-term inpatient care of chronically mentally ill adults, and received post-doctoral supervision at the same institution.

In 2000, Dr. Milliner directed an outpatient program of intensive mental health case management for severely mentally ill adults, a program focused on helping previously institutionalized clients live successfully in the community.  She then managed an outpatient mental health center which specialized in providing integrated treatment for adults dually-diagnosed with mental disorders and substance use disorders.  She has been licensed as a Psychologist in the state of Tennessee since 2002.

Beginning in 2004, Dr. Milliner conducted comprehensive forensic evaluations of adults incarcerated in a federal prison setting, assessing competency to stand trial and sanity at the time of the crimes.  In this role, she served as an expert witness providing psychological testimony in federal courts.  Since 2011, Dr. Milliner has worked with Neuropsychology Consultants, providing psychological testing for the forensic neuropsychological evaluations conducted by Dr. Walker.
